Recently diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, John Morrison's parents struggled to come to terms with the fact that their son had a fatal disease. Although overwhelming, they did not want to waste any time. Carolyn and Scott Morrison quickly tapped into a variety of resources available for parents of children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Through Children's National Medical Center, the Morrison Family found the Foundation to Eradicate Duchenne (FED), a local organization established by Dana and Joel Wood of Alexandria, Virginia. Their son James Wood was diagnosed in May 2000 with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The Woods have devoted much of their time and energies to this cause, working with others to achieve millions of dollars in federal and private funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research. One of the many significant fundraisers for the Foundation includes FEET for FED, a marathon running team.
